Face Detection Technology Using the power of DIGIC III, Canon’s Face Detection Technology ensures excellent people shots by automatically detecting subjects in the frame and setting the correct focus, flash level and exposure.
Motion Detection Technology / High ISO/IS Canon’s Motion Detection Technology uses various methods to detect camera and subject movement and set exposure accordingly. The brightness of the background as well as the subject, movement of the subject (based on comparison of frames over time) Face Detection information and camera shake information from the optical Image Stabilizer (IS) are all taken into account. If motion is detected the camera automatically selects the appropriate ISO level to achieve a shot with minimal blur and noise.
Red Eye Correction This useful feature can remove red-eye automatically during shooting and also in playback mode.
2.5” LCD Screen The 2.5-inch LCD screen of the IXUS 80 IS gives you a bigger picture, whether you’re shooting or reviewing your images. This durable, high-resolution screen with a scratch-resistant coating on the anti-reflective, PureColor LCD II screen offers pin sharp, clear pictures to make using this camera especially easy.
Optical Image Stabilizer Any slight shake while hand-holding a camera can cause blurred photos. Canon’s optical Image Stabilizer (IS) technology ensures crisp, clear images by detecting and correcting this shake. The 80 IS is able to microscopically adjust its own lens with absolute accuracy up to 4,000 times every second, so the image you see is the image you capture. Image Stabilizer is especially useful when using the zoom feature, which exaggerates camera movements, and in low-light settings that call for slower shutter speeds.
DIGIC III The huge processing capacity of DIGIC III paves the way for advanced features such as Red-Eye Correction and Face Detection Technology, while exceptional processing speeds delivers outstanding responsiveness, accurate auto focus and longer continuous shooting. Sunset Scene Mode “Sunset” is added to the Special Scene Modes. This mode optimizes settings such as white balance and exposure, thereby making it possible to create brilliant sunset shots.
Optical Viewfinder Conserve power on your IXUS 80 IS by turning the LCD monitor off while shooting and using the Optical Viewfinder. Use the LCD monitor to compose close-ups in macro mode since images composed with the viewfinder may be off-center.
My Colours Add a personal touch to your image or movie with Canon’s My Colours. Choose from antique sepia for a portrait, vivid blue for the sky or classic black and white for the landscape shot. These creative options and more – often available only on a computer – can be applied directly from your camera, before or after the shot.
